SKY SPORTS’ cricket man Joe Drabble (@Joe_Drabs) shares his verdict on India’s showdown with West Indies on Friday on the look out for more big winners.
India v West Indies | Friday 06.30 | Sky Sports 2
Big game, this. A win for India would virtually guarantee them top spot in Group B and a quarter-final tie against either England or Bangladesh. West Indies, buoyed by wins over Pakistan and Zimbabwe are well-placed to join them in the last eight, however the prospect of taking on Australia or New Zealand awaits should they fail to finish in the top two.
India are strong 2/5 favourites and have already acclimatised to conditions in Perth with an emphatic win over UAE at the venue last week. Spinner Ravi Ashwin starred in their hammering of the minnows with four wickets and has already picked up eight in the competition – the most by any off-spinner. He is 19/20 to take Over 1.5 wickets against West Indies; that looks a great bet on a pitch which suits him and an opposition who struggle against slow bowling.
West Indies have not won an ODI at the WACA since 2001, losing their last three, however should they win the toss (and presumably bat) I’d be tempted to take their 21/10 price should it remain. They have a pace bowling attack which could thrive on the bounce pacey pitch and another spread which appeals is the 11/10 on Jerome Taylor to take Over 1.5 Wickets having taken nine in the World Cup so far.
One man who loves playing India is Marlon Samuels. He has scored 333 runs against them in his last five innings. He is 15/4 to be Top West Indies Batsman. The favourite, Chris Gayle, has gone nine years without a century against the Indians…
