SKY Cricket man Joe Drabble (@Joe_Drabs) takes a look at the early morning Tuesday game featuring West Indies and Zimbabwe.
West Indies v Zimbabwe | Tuesday 03.30 | Sky Sports 2
When the West Indies are in action it’s always best to expect the unexpected. Incompetent against Ireland, imperious against Pakistan. They have since left New Zealand for Australia and will next tackle a Zimbabwe side who have also won and lost their opening two fixtures.
At 1/4, I simply can’t back the men from the Caribbean and will be having a small piece of the 18/5 on a Zimbabwe surprise. The key appears to be winning the toss, with only one side successfully chasing down a total to win an ODI in Canberra.
The pitch is expected to be a belter and there won’t be many better chances for Chris Gayle to return to form after scoring just one half-century in his last 19 innings. The World Cup will be a better competition with Gayle on song so I’m ignoring the form book and backing him to be the Top Batsman in the match at 11/2 (Coral).
I see value in the Zimbabwe player markets and after a couple of innings in the 40s, Brendon Taylor, Zimbabwe’s most consistent player, is worth backing at 5/1 (Ladbrokes) to be his side’s Top Runscorer.
In the bowling, first change bowler Solomon Mire is massively overpriced to be top Zim Bowler at 7/1 (Ladbrokes) having taken three wickets in the tournament so far, bowling 14 overs in total.
