Cordoba v Granada Tips | 5th January 2015

THE first round of La Liga fixtures for 2015 concludes on Monday night and Mark O’Haire has a best bet to cover Cordoba’s clash with Granada.

Cordoba v Granada | Monday 19.45

Two of La Liga’s strugglers do battle in an Andalusian derby tonight from southern Spain. Just one place separates the two teams who’ve managed only three league wins from 32 between them this season.

Despite their lowly position, I’ve been impressed by the fight, spirit and determination in the Cordoba squad. Since their unlikely promotion to the top-flight, Albert Ferrer was ruthlessly sacked and Miroslav Djukic has taken over the reigns and they remain a tough unit to crack.

But Los Califas are still winless in front of their home fans (D5-L3) and have failed to score in their last three outings at the Nuevo Arcángel, so how can we get involved at 13/8 (BetVictor). We simply can’t.

However, Cordoba are unbeaten when hosting teams in ninth and below and so Betfred’s offer of 11/5 on the draw holds most appeal.

Granada arrive without a win since September with Joaquín Caparrós coming under increasing pressure. With just five points taken from a possible 36, the experienced coach could be out of work if the visitors suffer a derby defeat.

For all their struggles, El Grana have W1-D3-L4 of their eight on the road and managed to net in six of those games. That’s all despite playing only two of the current bottom-half.

With five draws in their last eight outings from Granada, the two lowest-scoring sides in La Liga and with 15 draws in 32 league matches between them, there really is little other option but to take a small and speculative punt on the draw.
