PREMIER LEAGUE expert Ross Casey (@RossCasey24) is back to attack Friday night’s showdown between Cardiff and Wolves at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Cardiff v Wolves | Friday 30th November 2018, 20:00 | Sky Sports
This is another big game for struggling Cardiff, who despite being on just eight points and second from bottom, can haul themselves up to 11th with a win here on Friday night.
Neil Warnock’s side have won two of their last three games at home and odds of 14/5 (BetVictor) may well look appealing to some punters, against a Wolves side that are out of sorts.
Wolves are now winless in their last five, losing four of those games and for the first time since his arrival, questions are being asked of Nuno Espirito Santo. Despite this, Wolves are the favourites here with best odds of 5/4.
After last season’s incredible scenes when these teams met, it could well be a fiery match on the pitch and on the touchline between the two coaches…
Cardiff City
Cardiff appear to have sorted out their woeful defensive issues, conceding just three goals in their last three matches and that could well prove fruitful for them here.
Wolves’ league games this season average just two goals per-game and considering Huddersfield stifled them last weekend, by cutting out their full-backs, you will expect Warnock will be looking to do the same.
Wolves have played four of the Big Six already and a defeat to Spurs was their only loss, but they have been beaten by the likes of Brighton and Huddersfield without scoring, and that will give Warnock hope, plus he will be desperate to put one over Nuno following their fallout last season – I like the odds of a home win here at nearly 3/1.
With three of the last four games between these sides in Cardiff ending up with less than three goals, Under 2.5 Goals appeals too, but at 16/25 is a bit short, so odds of Cardiff to win and Under 2.5 Goals looks a shout at 11/8.
Wolves
You don’t become a bad team overnight, but the performance against Huddersfield was pretty unacceptable by Wolves’ lofty new standards. The pressure is on the Old Gold to perform, and against a Cardiff side that have started to gain some confidence playing at home, this could prove a difficult place to do it.
Wolves won this fixture last season in incredible circumstances by a single goal and something similar in terms of scoreline would be just the tonic they need to get back on track.
Wolves have already won three times by a 1-0 scoreline this season – and won just five times – so odds of 6/1 on Wolves to win 1-0 may well look tempting to some.
Betting Angle
This match is a difficult one to call, but I do think that Cardiff, under the lights at the Cardiff City Stadium, represent the best value at nearly 3/1.
The Bluebirds have picked up two wins in their last three home games and with Wolves seemingly found out of late, it will be interesting to see if Warnock can stop their marauding full-backs tonight and claim the win.
I think he can – back the hosts at 14/5.
