BUNDESLIGA boff Tom Loveys (@ValueBetMethods) returns to shares his top Saturday picks from the Bundesliga.
Werder Bremen v Borussia Monchengladbach | Saturday 14:30
Despite Werder eventually losing 3-2 at Augsburg last week, I must admit I was a little disappointed that they didn’t take all three points – Whilst 2-1 to the good, striker Aron Johannsson had a couple of chances which could have sealed the game and a tasty 11/4 winner.
Anyway, enough of me crying into my Bratwurst –but it may be worth following Bremen again as they take on Monchengladbach who are in an unfamiliar 11th in the table.
The away side will certainly be boosted by last week’s 3-0 victory against Freiburg and that can give them confidence to climb the table.
Bremen showed all the signs last week, that they possess a potent threat going forward. Serge Gnabry and Max Kruse give the hosts a bit of class – whereas they also showed a leakiness and lack of confidence at the back, something which have been prevalent all season.
Monchengladbach have lost 6/9 away this season and the Weser-Stadion isn’t a happy hunting ground, with only a solitary win in the last 14 visits!
The 2/1 on offer for a Bremen victory is tempting – but having learnt my lesson last week, maybe the Bremen DNB at 59/50 with Marathon is a safer measure, seeing our stakes refunded should the game end in a draw.
Schalke v Hertha Berlin | Saturday 17:30 | BT Sport 2
Schalke will indeed be buoyed by their impressive performance against Bayern last week, drawing 1-1 and after an awful start to the season, they’ve now managed to win six Bundesliga games and now sit in 12th.
They host a Hertha team who find themselves in 6th , but struggle on their travels having lost five of their 10 away games this season. Schalke are a shade of odds on to win, however a better angle may be for Schalke Over 1.5 Team Goals at 11/10 with BetStars.
The stats over this season and last point to this being value, as Hertha have conceded 2+ goals in 16/27 last away games and more impressively when looking at H2H records, Schalke have won the last eight games between the two at the Veltins Arena – scoring 16 and only conceding one, including our selection being a winner in the last five clashes.
Unwanted records are there to be broken – but this looks like value to me.
