DANIEL McCulloch (@DMcCulloch1984) gives us his best bets ahead of England’s Euro 2020 qualifying trip to Bulgaria on Monday night.
Bulgaria v England | Monday 14th October 2019, 19:45 | ITV
Having seen England and Czech Republic were locked at 1-1 within 10 minutes of kick-off on Friday night, I thought my England and Both Teams To Score bet was locked in. Unfortunately, the home side dominated thereafter and came away with a deserved victory.
His success with England has seen Gareth Southgate’s stock rise but I remain unconvinced with him as a manager. I cannot forget his performance as Middlesbrough boss and his team selections really surprise me at times.
Simply put, Kieron Trippier cannot be a better option at right back than Trent Alexander-Arnold or Kyle Walker (if you were a left winger, who would you rather be up against?) and Joe Gomez is a better centre back than Michael Keane.
So poor were they defensively that Southgate will surely make changes against Bulgaria. With this in mind, I did consider opposing goals but there is still a weight of evidence against this.
The hosts have scored in each of their last seven home games while England have already conceded four goals in their last two games and have generally looked suspect defensively under Southgate. Clearly they should have too much for a Bulgaria side who looked really limited at Wembley, but I once again believe that an England victory andBoth Teams To Score is excellent value at 12/5 with 888.
