Having looked destined for The Championship at half time last weekend it has been a decent week for Bournemouth. Having looked dead and buried halfway through the Leicester game, The Cherries managed four second half goals without reply before putting in an excellent display against Manchester City, where they were unfortunate not to come away with something.
Watford’s defeat to West Ham and tough upcoming fixtures gives Eddie Howe’s side some hope of survival but they surely need to win both games if that is to happen.
With that in mind, goals is the angle I am looking at here. 22 of Southampton’s 36 Premier League games this season have seen both sides oblige, compared to 20 of Bournemouth’s.
The Saints have scored in six of their seven matches since the Premier League resumed and only managed two clean sheets themselves – against a marooned Norwich outfit and Manchester City, who should have scored a hatful.
Bournemouth have been less prolific but did manage four against Leicester last week and also created plenty against Ciry in midweek.
Bournemouth certainly have the firepower to cause Southampton problems but with a draw unlikely to be enough for Eddie Howe’s side I will take the BTTS and over 2.5 goals angle. That is available at 20/21 with Boylesports.
