BUNDESLIGA boff Tom Loveys (@ValueBetMethods) shares his views on Sunday’s derby clash between Gladbach and Koln.
Borussia Monchengladbach v Koln | Sunday 20th August 2017, 17:00 | BT Sport
Hoping to end the weekend on a high with an outsider winner to prove some decent value.
Koln are a notorious tough side to breakdown and are now firmly established as a solid Bundesliga outfit under the management of Peter Stoger, who has been in charge for over four years now.
The Billy Goats finished in fifth last year, qualifying for the Europa League group stage. They travel to rivals Monchengladbach who finished an average campaign last year in ninth.
The Foals generally hold a strong home record, having won 10 of their last 20 at Borussia Park, however Koln won here 2-1 last season and are a tempting 16/5 with Marathon to start the campaign with three points.
Granted, the Billy Goats have lost last year’s pivotal striker Anthony Modeste, who went to the bright lights of China, but much is expected of Colombian replacement Jhon Cordoba who recently signed from Mainz.
Couple this up with defender Jannes Horn from Wolfsburg and we’ll take a chance that the Foals won’t be immediately firing, but to be slightly more conservative, the Draw No Bet option can be backed at 2/1 (Marathon) returning our stake should honours be even.
