OUR cards man Gavin Murphy (@GamePlanGavin) has spotted some bookings value in the Wednesday Serie A programme.
Torino v Genoa | Wednesday 19:45 | BT Sport Extra
There are some interesting midweek battles in Serie A and Genoa’s visit to Turin catches my eye. Both of these teams have started picking up cards lately after a sluggish start to the season from a bookings perspective.
The hosts, Torino, have collected three in each of their past two games whereas Genoa have picked up eight over the same period.
The whisteblower in this one is a guy who plies his trade at Serie B level. Daniele Chiffi has given out seven, eight, three and six in his past four games.
His sole Serie A action involved Verona and Sassuolo. In that game he dished out five yellows and a red. He gets his latest chance at top flight officiating in Turin and he will be keen to impress. We have successfully identified novice top flight referees twice in this column already this season and I expect that trend to continue here.
The previous six meetings between these two teams have read eight, five, seven, five, five, two and six. The game with just two cards was a dour nil nil affair. Otherwise, this should be expected to go close. I’m taking the 8/11 on over 5.5 cards with Bet365.
