BOOKINGS man Gavin Murphy (@GamePlanGavin) reckons there’s value to be had in Friday’s Spain v Turkey clash.

Spain v Turkey | Friday 20:00 | ITV1

Spain will look to maintain a 52-year unbeaten run against Turkey as the sides meet for the first time at a major tournament in UEFA EURO 2016 Group D. Spain’s ten meetings with Turkey have ended W5 D4 L1 (W4 D2 L1 in competitive games).

The countries were drawn together in 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying. Vicente del Bosque’s Spain won both games against Fatih Terim’s Turkey, Gerard Piqué’s first international goal giving the Reds a 1-0 win in Madrid and Albert Riera’s added-time strike sealing a 2-1 victory in Istanbul.

The last competitive meeting between these two countries had six cards in it. Serbian Milorad Mazic gets his whistle out again after issuing three cards in the Sweden v Ireland group stage one match.

He averaged 4.6 cards per game in the qualifiers so I expect more from him here. Turkey averaged 2.6 cards per game in the qualifiers and need something from this game or its probably bye bye to them. The defending champions averaged  around two cards per game during the qualification phase.

This match has been priced up at around 3.5 cards. That looks a bit low to me especially with a referee who can lose the plot. I’m recommending over 30pts at 4/5 with Paddy Power.
