AFTER striking gold in the Champions League midweek Gavin Murphy (@GamePlanGavin) is back with a Friday night bookings bet.
Getafe v Malaga | Friday 19:30 | Sky Sports 1
After a strong midweek performance for bookings punters in the Champions League it’s back to domestic matters for us this week and the theme is very much “old and new”.
Friday night sees, on paper, a dour looking encounter between Getafe and Malaga. Until you look a bit closer that is…
Getafe are the most ill disciplined team in Spain with an average of 4.8 cards per game. Malaga are the ninth dirtiest. Both rank in the top six for fouls conceded.
We have a new referee for this battle. Jose Martinez is a young whistle-blower who has been plying his trade in the Segunda (Spain’s 2nd division). Last term he dished out an average of 7.8 cards per game.
He’s only officiated in one La Liga game so far which was the drab 0-0 affair between Real Sociedad and Sporting Gijon. Despite this he still dished out nine yellows.
Bet365 initially went over/under 6.5 cards but have since moved the line up to 7.5. However William Hill are offering an unbelievable 5/4 on over six cards which must be the bet. (Note do “Total match cards” market not bookings points which is a lesser price). This is my NAP of the weekend.
