GAVIN Murphy takes a look at the value bookings bets on Thursday’s Euro qualifiers.
Belgium v Bosnia | Thursday 19:45 | Sky Interactive
Belgium host Bosnia on Thursday in a hugely significant fixture in Group B. The Belgian Red Devils are still smarting from their Cardiff loss in June which has left them with work to do to secure automatic qualification.
Bosnia had a dreadful start to this campaign but are working their way back into the group and desperately need something from this key game. The previous encounter finished 1-1 and a further tight, cagey affair is possible here given the stakes.
Portuguese whistleblower Manuel De Sousa gets the gig and he’s only taken charge of one Euro 2016 qualifier so far. That was back in October of last year in the Moldova v Austria game.
That evening he brandished five yellows and a red and I would expect him to dish out over 3.5 cards in this crucial game. That’s been chalked up at 4/6 with Bet365 and certainly appeals.
Holland v Iceland | Thursday 19:45 | Sky Sports 5
The other bet that caught my eye involves Holland. They host Iceland in another massive fixture in Group A. Regular readers of this column will fondly remember this referee, Milorad Mažić of Serbia, as he loves cards. He dished out 10 in the recent Celtic v Malmo Champions League play off game.
When there’s a lot resting on a game, like in this one, Mažić is the kind of referee you would like to cherry pick from an “overs” point of view. I think we can take a chance on this ref giving out over 4.5 cards at 5/6 again with Bet365. I’ll be getting involved with double at around 2/1.
