Bookings Tips | Austria v Hungary | 14th June 2016 | ITV1

GROUP F gets underway on Tuesday and Gavin Murphy (@GamePlanGavin) reckons there’s some value to be had in the bookings markets.

Austria v Hungary | Tuesday 17:00 | ITV1

Austria defeated Hungary 5-0 in the neighbours’ first official international in 1902, but it should be closer as they reconvene in UEFA EURO 2016 Group F.

Austria have played 137 games against Hungary, with the record W40 D31 L66. Their first competitive encounter came at the 1934 FIFA World Cup, where Austria overcame Hungary 2-1 in Bologna to reach the semi-finals. That remains the countries’ only final tournament meeting.

When Hungary last qualified for a major tournament, the 1986 World Cup, they overcame Austria twice in the process, winning 3-1 in Budapest and 3-0 in Vienna. Those are the sides’ most recent competitive encounters. Hungary won the most recent encounter, 2-1 in Graz in August 2006.

Frenchman, Clement Turpin, gets the whistle for this one. He is a controversial appointment because he is so young and relatively inexperienced. He averaged four cards in qualification.

If qualification phase stats tell us anything then the cards shown by Turpin should mainly go to the Hungarians. They averaged 3.18 in qualifiers which was the highest of all the teams at Euro 2016. Austria, by comparison, had 1.6. It looks a mismatch!

West Brom fans in particular will remember Zoltan Gera. The midfield schemer has turned into a card collector as he averaged a yellow every 155 minutes.

He is as short as 6/5 to get a card here. This isn’t an official tip, more for information for those of you who like this market, but the 10/3 on offer with William Hill looks very good value given his stats.

Anyway, back to my tip and everything points to Hungary receiving a few cards in this fixture. Accordingly, I’m backing them to get the most cards at 4/5 with Bet365.
