Argentina v Honduras | Wednesday 17.00 | BBC

Argentina and Honduras face each other in a must-win Group D encounter from Brasilia on Wednesday, in the final round of group-stage matches in the Olympics men’s football tournament.

Both Argentina and Honduras posted a victory and a loss during their first two games in the tournament and so they are currently tied in second spot in the group.

Whoever wins this match will advance to the quarter-inals together with Portugal, who remained undefeated.

Argentina averaged 3.00 cards-per-game in their two group games so far whilst the Hondurans averaged a surprisingly low 1.50 cards-per-game – that implies that 4.50 cards might be expected and that is the exact line being offered.

All or nothing games like this bode well for cards, especially with two combustible teams involved and a Spanish referee in charge.

Mateu Lahoz has replaced the retired Carlos Velasco Carballo as the main Spanish representative in international competition.

He averaged 5.25 cards-per-game in La Liga last term but that’s slightly misleading because he tends to officiate the big clubs more often in games where less cards are issued. Nonetheless, five cards here would get the job done.

During these Olympics he covered the 0-0 draw between hosts Brazil and South Africa and gave six cards on that occasion.

With plenty at stake, I’m backing Over 4.5 cards at 1.95 on Bet365’s Asian line.
