Bookings Tips | 21st-22nd November 2015

Yellow card

CARD king Gavin Murphy (@GamePlanGavin) is back on the case with three bookings bets from across the continent this weekend.

Carpi v Chievo | Sunday 14.00

Earlier this season we identified a new referee for Serie A games, Fabio Maresca.

He didn’t disappoint that day, handing out seven yellows and a red in the match between Atalanta and Verona. He makes his long awaited return this weekend by taking charge of Chievo’s trip to Carpi.

It is encouraging that, whilst he has been away from Italy’s top flight, Maresca has continued to brandish the cards in Serie B. He’s given a red in 4/6 games and his card totals read 11-4-7-11-9-9.

Carpi are averaging 2.75 cards-per-game with Chievo receiving on average 2.42 cards-per-game.

I think the bookies have underestimated this referee and I’m getting stuck into Over 5.5 Cards at 5/6 with Bet365.

Real Sociedad v Sevilla | Saturday 15.00

David Moyes’ struggles in the Basque Country are now over and it is a fresh start for Real Sociedad. They welcome Sevilla to Anoeta on Saturday afternoon in a fixture that is normally littered with cards.

The previous six head-to-heads read 8-8-6-7-9-8 on the card count making five of the encounters producing seven or more cards.

Mateu Lahoz, one of Spain’s top officials, gets the job of keeping these two teams in check.

Real Sociedad average 3.18 cards-per-game and Sevilla are at 2.82 cards-per-game – giving us a total average of 6 cards-per-game.

With the hosts hoping to make a positive start in the post-Moyes era and a history of cards onside, I am backing Over 6.5 Cards at 8/11 with Bet365.

Deportivo La Coruna v Celta Vigo | Saturday 21.05 | Sky Sports Interactive

There are many great matches in Spain on Saturday but the one that catches my eye is the Galician derby in the north west of the country as Celta Vigo travel the short distance to battle Deportivo La Coruna.

I have friends who live in the region and they described this encounter as the ‘most important match of the year’. Recent tussles between these two teams show plenty of cards with totals reading as 9-6-8-9-7 in the last five deuls.

The bookies are clearly expecting a lot of cards because a red is odds-on (19/20 William Hill). And when you see that Senor Confetti has the whistle, it’s not hard to see why…

Alfonso Alvarez Izquierdo has dished out five reds in just six matches and averages 7.67 cards-per-game – he’s La Liga’s most prolific card issuer.

Over 65 bookings points is a 4/11 shot with William Hill – a truly awful price but it shows you what the market expects. Instead, Over 7.5 Cards can be backed at 5/6 with Bet365 and looks the best call under the lights at the Riazor with passions running high.
