CARD king Gavin Murphy (@GamePlanGavin) has spotted some FA Cup bookings value this Thursday night.
Newport County v Plymouth | Wednesday 19:45 | BT Sport 1
A huge opportunity and financial payday against Liverpool awaits the winners of the FA Cup replay between Newport County and Plymouth Argyle.
Naughty Newport
Sean Rigg was sent off early in the 0-0 draw earlier this month as County defended for their lives. Indeed, Newport have had a player sent off in each of their last two meetings with the Pilgrims.
The past two meetings between these two clubs have seen 14 cards. Ten have gone to the Welsh outfit. County are the dirtiest team in League Two averaging nearly three cards per game whereas Plymouth average fractionally under two cards per game.
Newport were involved in a lively affair at Crawley on the weekend with 13 cards issued. That’s the most I’ve ever seen for an English match.
Niggle
There is also plenty of niggle between the two managers. Derek Adams has talked about “a dog fight’. Bizarrely, Newport boss Graham Westley was asked to leave Adams’s press conference after the first meeting. It’s fair to say that these two won’t be sending each other a Christmas card!
So, passions should be running high at Rodney Parade. Predictably, the suits at the FA have appointed a boring referee in Dean Whitestone. The Northamptonshire whisteblower averages 2.44 cards per game so far this season.
What To Back
The question here is what market to back because there are a few options. William Hill are 11/4 on over 45pts. Sky Bet are 11/8 on 40+ bookings points. Both have major chances despite the referee being a concern.
However, I’m recommending each team to have 20pts or more at 3/1 with Sky Bet. Also, Paddy Power are offering 13/10 on Newport collecting over 10 points. Given the recent stats that looks like major value and I’m on.
