Bookings: Card-happy Collum to deliver at Tynecastle

CARD king Gavin Murphy (@GamePlanGavin) has spotted some bookings value in Scotland on Friday night.

Hearts v Aberdeen | Friday 19:45 | BT Sport 1

All eyes will naturally be on Glasgow this weekend but there may also be fireworks in Edinburgh as fourth-placed Hearts welcome third-placed Aberdeen to Tynecastle.

The Jam Tarts romped to a 4-0 home victory over Kilmarnock a few days ago whilst Aberdeen saw off Hamilton 2-1 at Pittodrie.

A history of cards

The past five meetings between these two clubs have seen total card figures of 7-2-6-8-6 at an average of 5.80 total cards per-match.

Dons boss Derek McInnes said this week that there is always “an edge” when these two teams meet. He commented that Hearts have targeted Aberdeen as a team to overtake and his side are happy to accept that challenge.

This is the last match before the winter break and both sides fancy their chances of piping Rangers to second come May. A sold out Tynecastle expects on Friday night!

Collum gets the whistle

Our old friend, Willie Collum, gets the whistle for this showdown. The 37-year-old tee-totaller averages 3.63 cards per-game in the Scottish top flight so far this season. However, some of those games might be described as lower profile, less intense encounters.

Collum gave nine cards when covering the first Old Firm match in September, including sending off Phillipe Senderos. Collum also had the red card on show last time out as he issued six cards in the match between Hamilton and Celtic.

Additionally, Collum has booked Hearts more than any other club in his career (81 yellows and eight reds).

The betting angle

William Hill have chalked up Over 45 Bookings Points at 5/4 and at that price I’m getting involved.

If you’re new to Bookings Points – a yellow card earns 10 points and a red card earns 25 points. If a player receives 2 yellow cards and is consequently shown a red card, he receives a total of 35 Bookings Points.

Best Bets

Hearts v Aberdeen – Over 45 Bookings Points (5/4 William Hill)
