WE’VE lined up our best lays of the weekend straight from Matchbook.
Republic Of Ireland v Scotland | Saturday 17:00 | Sky Sports 1
After Scotland’s win at Hampden Park in November over the Irish, this is a must win game for Martin O’Neil’s side. But are they capable of achieving that? Just one point accrued from their last two qualifiers has deflated spirits and they may lack the creativity to see off this Scotland side.
With four wins from their last five matches there is a momentum about the Scots just now. They can avoid defeat and reward Irish layers at odds of 2.46.
Armenia v Portugal | Saturday 17:00 | Sky Sports Interactive
Portugal are available at odds of 1.49 to lay in this game and that’s definitely worth taking. Fernando Santos’ side have never been the most fluent of qualifiers and have already lost at home to Albania in this campaign. They’re not a side to support at short odds but certainly a team to take on at a suffocating price.
Armenia are one of the most progressive sides in Europe and destroyed Denmark 4-0 in Copenhagen during World Cup qualifiers two years ago. They have no respect for established nations and will be fully focussed on three points here.
Russia v Austria | Sunday 17:00 | Sky Sports 5
It’s been a fraught campaign for Russia so far. A defeat in Austria looks bad but a home draw to Moldova the month before shocked the nation. This is coming off the back of an awful World Cup of course and spirits seem low for Fabio Capello’s side just now.
In contrast it’s been a very encouraging campaign for Austria. After drawing at home to Sweden in September they’ve won their next four matches to put them deep in contention for automatic qualification for France. They’ll enter this game full of confidence and Russia are worth laying at 2.04.
