Harvey Barnes - Leicester

ARSENAL welcome Leicester on Sunday in the Premier League. Daniel McCulloch (@DMcCulloch1984) shares his favourite fancies.

Two sides who – I believe – have flattered to deceive this season meet at The Emirates and I am not expecting an overly entertaining encounter. Both sides have won three and lost two this season and I feel that such a record flatters each side.

Arsenal’s three victories came against Fulham, Sheffield United and West Ham. While it was a fairly comfortable victory against Fulham, they laboured against Sheffield United and were extremely fortunate to beat West Ham, with a late winner giving them a scarcely deserved victory in a match in which their opponents had twice as many shots (14 to seven).

Leicester have also failed to impress overall, despite a victory at Manchester City. They had three penalties in that match as well as two in their opening game against West Brom. Their only other victory came against a Burnley side who have only one point from their four league games this term.  Brendan Rodgers side have failed to score in their last two league matches and even failed to muster a shot on target in a 3-0 defeat to West Ham.

Given that I essentially want to oppose both sides, this is a tough call. Overall, however, Arsenal are a bigger concern for me. Leicester have injury problems and perhaps some confidence issues given how last season ended but Mikel Arteta’s version of Arsenal still look quite short of creativity for me. They struggle to get their best attacker – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – in to the matches, with the Gabon star having failed to score since their opening league game with Fulham.

I couldn’t back Arsenal at evens in this encounter and believe that the 19/10 888 are offering on Leicester in the Draw No Bet market is excellent value.

In addition to this, I like the look of Harvey Barnes at 9/2 with Bet365 in the anytime goalscorer market. Barnes has one goal in four matches this season but has had 15 shots, with seven on target and has been a constant threat for The Foxes. I expect him to cause the Arsenal backline plenty of problems and with Jamie Vardy still an injury doubt, he will be depended on by his side.
