It’s derby day in North London and the two sides come into this game off the back of very different results. My team were humbled in Munich whilst Spurs are buzzing after a stunning strike secured victory at home to Anderlecht.
Like many games of its type, form is rarely important though. I have been to 31 NLDs over the years and I don’t think a single showdown went as expected.
Each time you think Arsenal have turned a corner, a result like that in Germany comes along. It is worth noting that each disaster this season (Olympiakos and Sheffield Wednesday) has been followed by a thumping win – Leicester and Swansea were beaten on their own grounds by three goals. The team has its faults but there is some character in there, somewhere.
The key to this game from our point of view will be the fitness of Laurent Koscielny. One of those players that only his own fans really appreciate, Kos is our best defender since Sol Campbell and the backline is much weaker without him. At the time of writing, there is a good chance of Koscielny playing.
I would not attempt an honest opinion of the Spurs side, although playing Monday, Thursday, Sunday cannot be of any benefit to them.
On two or three occasions this season, Alexis Sanchez has looked like the best player in the Premier League. I expect Sanchez, Mezut Ozil and Santi Cazorla to give the Spurs defence nightmares.
If the defence can ensure Petr Cech a peaceful afternoon then I’d fancy us to continue an outstanding record in this fixture. Olivier Giroud just cannot stop scoring right now. I see him notching at least once in a 3-1 win with the Frenchman my best bet to score at 5/4 with SkyBet.

Those red shirts (or are they orange?)! Le Plonker of a manager who never sees anything! Piers Morgan! What is there to like about Arsenal?
I’m a Tottenham Hotspur fan and have been since 1987 when we lost the FA Cup final to Coventry City. In many ways, that day set the precedent for the 28 years to follow. Almost (but not quite). The ‘great pretenders’, if you like.
It’s North London derby time and a chance to resume old rivalries. Of course the Gooners maintain they still have superiority but in reality the two clubs have been more closely matched in recent times. I expect that trend to continue this weekend.
Apparently they lost to a German team in midweek but I can’t confirm this as I don’t watch their games. Irrespective, this match presents the white half of North London with an opportunity to get a statement victory.
We have been ticking along nicely and arrive at the Death Star stadium in good spirits. We don’t tend to do well when visiting the better teams but, as demonstrated last term by home victories against Arsenal and Chelsea, we can beat anyone on our day.
Will it be ‘our day’ on Sunday? Possibly. But I’m going to predict a high scoring draw (2-2) instead. In terms of a reliable punt, look no further than Eric Dier of Spurs to collect a card at 19/10 with 888.
Whatever you back, whoever you support, enjoy the game!
Best Bets
Louis Ross says – Olivier Giroud to score at anytime (5/4 SkyBet)
Gavin Murphy says – Eric Dier to be shown a card (19/10 888)
