FOUR consecutive profitable Anytime Notebooks and a 16/1 winner last time from Gavin Horsfall (@GHorsfall). Who’s next on his Anytime Goalscorer hit-list?
Mansfield v AFC Wimbledon | Saturday 15.00
Wimbledon’s Andy Barcham (23/5 10Bet) has been loitering around the fringes of the Notebook for a fair few weeks now and conditions could just about be ready to make him pay his way at the right price when Neil Ardley’s side visit Mansfield on Saturday.
Barcham has notched in two of three away games this season and scored on his last visit to Field Mill with Portsmouth a couple of seasons ago. Barcham will start out on the left but we can expect to see him cutting inside and getting furthest forward amongst the away side’s midfield here.
He was given the second-half off in the 3-2 JPT defeat to Plymouth in midweek and is value, for me, here.
Bristol Rovers v Oxford | Sunday 12.15 | Sky Sports 1
If I was asked to build a profile of the typical Anytime Notebook reader, I’d like to think we’re an informed bunch who pride ourselves on thinking outside the box and making it pay. I’m guessing not many come here expecting me to put up Kemar Roofe (3/1 Bet365) when Oxford visit Bristol Rovers live on Sky Sports on Sunday but here we are.
Roofe is hardly an unknown quantity amongst lower league aficionados but there’s some clear ground between him and the next best in the Oxford side when it comes to shots on goal from inside the area (according to my tallies) and with The U’s making a positive start, he still looks the most likely to strike amongst the Oxford front line.
After starting the season on the right-hand side, he partnered Danny Hylton in a front two in the 1-1 draw at Mansfield before slotting in just behind Hylton in the 2-0 win at home to Yeovil.
Four in six games so far this season and 10 in 13 going back to the last seven games of last season, I’d be prepared to back him at shorter so he goes in the Notebook this week.
Scunthorpe v Blackpool | Saturday 15.00
They say you should play up your luck when you’re in good form so following last week’s 16/1 Adedeji Oshilaja goal for Gillingham, I’ll take a chance on another defender coming good.
Tom Aldred (22/1 Paddy Power) won’t be on anyone’s lists this week but Blackpool aren’t without a shout at Scunthorpe on Saturday despite their torrid start.
Aldred was impossible to get right during his time at Accrington but got on the end of three Henry Cameron corners for Blackpool in the 4-0 defeat to Walsall and hasn’t been averse to a hot streak in the past.
Blackpool defenders look just as likely to finish a chance as their attackers at the moment.
Best Bets
Mansfield v AFC Wimbledon – Andy Barcham to score at anytime (23/5 10Bet)
Bristol Rovers v Oxford – Kemar Roofe to score at anytime (3/1 Bet365)
Scunthorpe v Blackpool – Tom Aldred to score at anytime (22/1 Paddy Power)
