Alaves

LA LIGA expert Callum Read (@CallumRead) highlights the value from Monday night’s match-up in the Basque Country.

Alaves v Deportivo La Coruna | Monday 19.45 | Sky Sports 1

Alaves are enjoying a wonderful start to their La Liga campaign, after snatching a late point against Atletico Madrid in Matchday 1 and drawing to Sporting Gijon the following week, Mauricio Pellegrino then pulled off what could be the shock of this season by beating Barcelona 2-1 at the Camp Nou.

Deportivo on the other hand have suffered mix fortunes, they beat Eibar on the opening round of fixtures before drawing to Real Betis 0-0 in a horribly dull encounter and then suffered their first defeat of the season against Athletic Bilbao.

Despite their incredible win against the champions, it’s hard to see Alaves winning back-to-back. I’ve always had a weird feeling about Deportivo and find it incredibly hard to back against them – especially away from home.

Deportivo have recorded draws in 60% of their last 10 away games and last season drew 10 of their 19 away games; even more interesting is the fact that in Depor’s last 20 away games against sides in the top-half of the table they have W2-D11-L7 of these matches.

Don’t get me wrong, the hosts are a decent side, they’ve proven a lot of people wrong already this season and have shown signs of how incredibly stubborn their defence can be but I’m not convinced with their attacking line just yet.

Alaves have gone Over 2.5 Goals at home in just one of their last five games whilst the visitors have been Under 2.5 in each of their last five away games making the Under 2.5 Market eye-catching but at 7/12 (Marathon) there’s little value.

I’ve also had a look at the half-time markets and like the look of draw at half-time. This has already come in twice for both Alaves and Deportivo this season with the score being 0-0 on each of the four occasions.

For this reason, I’m backing the draw at half-time (1/1 Bet365) and the 0-0 at half time (8/5 BetStars).

Best Bets

Alaves v Deportivo La Coruna – half-time draw (1/1 Bet365)

Alaves v Deportivo La Coruna – 0-0 half-time correct score (8/5 BetStars)
