A mixed weekend for Chris Graham (@chrisgraham79) in the Premier League last weekend. He’s back with three more bets to slay the bookmakers.
Crystal Palace v West Brom | Saturday 15:00
This is a hugely tough weekend I have to say. Just seven matches to choose from makes the task greater but hopefully I’ve found something that inspires.
West Brom were my best bet last weekend and I was proved wrong as they succumbed to survival-seeking Leicester. Some may see it as a natural dip in performance now that survival is almost certainly achieved but you just don’t expect that from a Tony Pulis side.
To be fair they did notch twice last week at the Hawthorns (and looked fantastic in old-school kit) and that certainly breeds hope for my bet here.
Opponents Crystal Palace are heading for their best season since the Steve Coppell era and are banging on the door of the Top 10. Who would have thought that at Christmas? Palace have won four on the bounce and their 4-1 win over Sunderland last week had their manager Alan Pardew comparing them to Brazil. Steady on Al.
With Palace riding on a wave of positivity, I like Both Teams To Score here at Evens. I’d rather back West Brom Over 0.5 but it’s too short at 8/13.
The bet has paid out in eight of the last nine Palace games and I simply don’t believe Pulis will be able to rest until his side pull out a strong performance for him ASAP.
Man City v West Ham | Sunday 13:30 | Sky Sports 1
Thankfully I’m out for a birthday lunch (not mine) with friends on Sunday so I won’t be exposed to this game. It looks a dire encounter, featuring two sides just gagging for the end of the season.
In many ways though it’s a must win for Man City and I think they’ll achieve that. They may even run amok and bang in goals left, right and centre to release all the tension of the last few months. But I don’t think they will.
I’m taking a plunge on the Total Goals market for this game and siding with 2-3 Goals at a tempting 11/8 with Bet Victor.
This bet stems from my belief that West Ham won’t score in this match. In many ways they are the most uninspiring side in the division at the moment. In the Champions League hunt at Christmas, fighting to stay in the top half in the Spring.
Their away record really is awful. Just one league win on the road since October and in four of the last seven matches they failed to score. Thing are not good at the Boleyn Ground and I can’t see them doing much in this game.
Troubling times for Man City as well, but they know a slip-up here could threaten a Top 4 finish and they should be professional enough to get the job done. Their last two home matches were 2-0 and 3-0 wins and that would be perfect for my bet here.
Newcastle v Tottenham | Sunday 16:00 | Sky Sports 1
Thankfully I’m out for a birthday lunch (not mine) with friends on Sunday so I won’t be…sorry I used that line in the previous game didn’t I? But the sentiments remain the same. The most interesting aspect of this game will be to see how many Newcastle fans decide not to turn up.
As I mentioned on Monday night I really feel that if the season rolled on for another month they’d be in real danger of going down. It’s just the sheer ineptitude of the bottom five sides that is making the last few weeks of the season (relatively) sweat-free for the Magpies.
Five defeats in a row. Four blanks out of five. Nine defeats in 13. One goal in their last five matches. Let’s just leave it there eh? The fact there could be a poisonous atmosphere at the ground on Sunday as well just adds fuel to the fire of direness regarding Newcastle.
Opponents Tottenham seem to be running out of steam on the evidence of the last few weeks and that’s not a surprise. The club has had a brutal year with deep progress in the League Cup and Europa League registered alongside a decent tilt at the Champions League spots.
It’s one win in four for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and with Burnley, Leicester and Aston Villa in that band of games that’s fairly unimpressive.
As much as I admire this young Spurs side, I expect them to contribute to a poor match here. Three blanks in their last four matches hardly inspires, and when you consider who they’re playing against then the Evens on Under 2.5 Goals looks lovely.
Best Bets
Crystal Palace v West Brom – Both Teams To Score (Evens William Hill)
Man City v West Ham – Exactly 2-3 Goals Scored (11/8 BetVictor)
Newcastle v Tottenham – Under 2.5 Goals (Evens BetVictor)
6/1 Chelsea To Beat Man Utd
It’s the big match of the weekend and new Coral players get a massive 6/1 on Chelsea winning.
The Blues are unbeaten at home in the league this season and odds on in places.
