Anytime Notebook | 8th November 2014

GAVIN Horsfall (@GHorsfall) has enjoyed a whopping eight winning weekends for his Anytime Notebook this season. Can he continue the streak during the FA Cup first round?

The only thing more difficult than second guessing managers in cup games, is resisting the temptation not to have a bet in cup games, with that in mind…

Barnsley v Burton | Saturday 15.00

An average October for Barnsley could have worked out a whole lot better if they’d managed to keep hold of leads at Peterborough and Notts County. In fact, the Tykes led during all five league games last month, yet only managed to claim to wins.

Danny Wilson’s men are fresh off a 1-0 win at Bramall Lane though and in Ryan Williams have a player in good form. The Fulham loanee has been taking up some good spaces in behind Sam Winnall and Devante Cole and looks a bet at 3/1 (Bet365).

There’s some added value for us here as well, as Williams scored against Saturday’s opponents Burton when on-loan at Oxford last season.

Dagenham & Redbridge v Southport | Saturday 15.00

It doesn’t seem that long ago that we talked up a Dagenham revival under Wayne Burnett. Five defeats in seven later suggests that was wide of the mark and they look vulnerable at home to Conference outfit Southport.

The Merseyside club are unbeaten in their last four since Gary Brabin returned and have an away win at Grimsby in their locker from as recent ago as last month.

Joe Connor has ‘FA CUP HERO’ written all over him; the defender has four goals in 10, including two in his last two. Bet365 go 20/1 while Ladbrokes are 4/1 – I’ve caught some of his contributions on video and the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle of those prices, so we’ll take the big one.

Peterborough v Carlisle | Saturday 15.00

Being against Peterborough last week paid its way and with their record now reading three straight defeats and one clean sheet in nine it might be worth siding with a visiting side again.

It’s the turn of Carlisle this weekend who are fresh off a 3-0 defeat at Fratton Park but don’t fit the profile of a side content to give their League One counterparts an easy ride.

I’ve spent an inordinate amount of time telling people just how good I think Kyle Dempsey could be this week. The 19-year-old takes up some really good positions, is happy with the ball at his feet and is always looking to initiate a threat.

He’s 13/2 (Bet365) to make clubs higher up the pyramid sit up and take notice this weekend.

Best Bets

Barnsley v Burton – Ryan Williams to score at anytime (3/1 Bet365)

Dagenham & Redbridge v Southport – Joe Connor to score at anytime (20/1 Bet365)

Peterborough v Carlisle – Kyle Dempsey to score at anytime (13/2 Bet365)
