THE anytime goalscorer guru Gavin Horsfall (@GHorsfall) returns with more Football League goalscorer tips to cover the weekend’s action.

Scunthorpe v Notts County | Saturday 15.00

Mark Robins has come in at Scunthorpe and, as we expected, has steadied the ship with a couple of draws at Colchester and Port Vale. Scunny would have been my idea of a good bet this weekend but for the absence of suspended duo Neil Bishop and Jennison Myrie-Williams.

Shaun Derry’s doing an excellent job at Notts County and we’ll get no better clue as to how they’ll set-up this weekend than how they performed in their win at Barnsley on Tuesday night. So I’m going to put up Mike Petrasso at 9/2 with Bet365.

It’s a cracking price for the on-loan QPR youngster. He can play anywhere across the frontline, he’s good on the break with plenty of pace and scored twice in that Barnsley win. You can’t go wrong at 9/2.

Barnsley v Bristol City | Saturday 15.00

I originally thought October was going to be a good month for Danny Wilson at Barnsley but a couple of defeats have stunted their progress. They’ve certainly turned the tables in terms of goals scored and they’re looking quite prolific from an offensive point of view.

The Tykes were decent in a 2-1 defeat at Peterborough a few weeks back and should have been out of sight in midweek against Notts County. I certainly think they can breach this Bristol City backline who haven’t seen a clean sheet now for the best part of a month-and-a-half. The Robins attitude of ‘we’ll just score more than you’ may catch up with them at some point and a good attacking Barnsley side are well capable of causing them problems.

There’s loads of players we could have picked out but I’m going with Devante Cole – he’s the pick of the prices at 12/5 (Bet365) and has bagged two in two now.

AFC Wimbledon v Tranmere | Saturday 15.00

I cannot emphasise enough what a good manager I think Micky Adams is. He didn’t get a fair crack of the whip at my club Coventry and did a really good job at Port Vale – getting that Vale side promoted from League Two a couple of seasons back was no easy task. And then he really overachieved with them last year, only to lose his job after a run of poor results.

In Tranmere I think Adams has found a really decent fit. As most commentators suggested after Rovers’ 0-0 draw with Mansfield on Tuesday, they showed a really big improvement and that’ll do me. Adams has said the focus has to be on goals and he’s had a really good week on the training pitch the squad, which is good news for us.

Tranmere’s goal record is looking pretty awful and that is priority number one for the new boss, which I think, should give us a good angle for Saturday as they head to Wimbledon. The Dons are inconsistent at best and I wouldn’t put you off the visitors at 5/2 (Paddy Power).

There’s been a few new arrivals for Rovers since Adams took the reigns. Armand Gnanduillet has come in from Chesterfield but I’m siding with Danny Johnson (13/5 Coral) who’s on-loan from Cardiff. He scored a whole host of goals last season in non-league and should be amongst it as Tranmere go on the hunt to end their wretched goal record at Wimbledon.
