Scottish Football: Killie can keep Bhoys in-check, says Mr Fixit

DAILY RECORD star Mr Fixit (@mrfixittps) shares his best bet from Saturday’s Scottish action.

Celtic v Kilmarnock | Saturday 8th December 2018, 15:00

We’ve had three leaders of the Premiership in the past week in what’s shaping up to be an enthralling title race. Rangers replaced Celtic last Sunday but were overhauled by Kilmarnock on Wednesday as they crashed at home to Aberdeen.

Steve Clarke’s shocktroops lead the Old Firm by one point but both have games in-hand.
I joked about Killie’s title credentials in midweek and the big question is: can they do a Leicester?

Since Clarke arrived performance levels have been exceptional but they don’t have the resource to stay with the big two in the final straight. And then there’s the Clarke dilemma – the longer Killie perform the more suitors will line up trying to prise him away.

Killie were 150/1 before going top for the first time since 1965 (after 10+ games) and have been cut to a best 100/1 at Sky Bet. It’s still out of sync with Celtic at a 1/5 with Paddy Power and Rangers 6/1 at 10BET.

Everyone knows Celtic are capable of going on a long winning run but displays against Aberdeen and Motherwell weren’t great and maybe they’ll improve after the Europa League groups end on Thursday.

We’ll get a much better idea of where Killie are this weekend when they visit Celtic who could have an eye on Thursday’s crunch clash with Red Bull Salzburg.

Brendan Rodgers hasn’t got the better of Clarke in four meetings – two Killie wins at Rugby Park and two draws at Parkhead – so he’ll be desperate to pick up the points. If I was a Killie fan I’d be considering 16/1 from Ladbrokes to win at Parkhead.

At those prices go for Killie +2 at 23/20 with Betway because I don’t see them being well beaten.

Livingston v St Mirren | Saturday 8th December 2018, 15:00

Livingston are still punching above their weight in their first season back in the top-flight and their plastic pitch is nightmare territory for rivals.

Only St Johnstone have won at the Tony Macaroni Arena and Celtic, Rangers and Killie and have all been held to draws.

Seventeen of Livi’s 22 points have come at home and they can see off second-bottom St Mirren who’ve taken just two points from seven away games.

Back Livi at 4/5 with Betfred.

Forfar v Arbroath | Saturday 8th December 2018, 15:00

Arbroath remain unbeaten in League One and should win at Forfar.

Arbroath sit 10 points clear at the top having won six on the bounce and nine of the last 10 while scoring five in each of their last two games.

Forfar have lost two of their past three and I like an Arbroath win and Over 2.5 Goals at 13/10 at Betway.

Best Bets

Celtic v Kilmarnock – Kilmarnock +2 handicap (23/20 Betway)

Livingston v St Mirren – Livingston to win (4/5 Betfred)

Forfar v Arbroath – Arbroath to win and Over 2.5 Goals (13/10 Betway)
