National League: Mighty Midlanders can extend hot streak

Boreham Wood v Leyton Orient | Saturday 8th December 2018, 12:35 | BT Sport

The BT Sport cameras head to Meadow Park for the early kick-off on Saturday as Boreham Wood take on league leaders Leyton Orient.

The Wood are winless in six and have failed to score in four of those encounters – that doesn’t bode well as they take on the meanest defence in the league. Meanwhile, the five-game form table has the hosts sitting in 22nd, whilst the visitors also top that table.

Orient have won four of their last six, scoring two or more in each victory, and have now kept three clean sheets on the bounce. Justin Edinburgh’s men create plenty of chances with Josh Koroma and MacAuley Bonne both in great form.

I can’t see anything other than a comfortable win for the O’s and I’m backing the away win at 23/20 with Betway.

Chesterfield v Salford City | Saturday 8th December 2018, 15:00

Much has been made about Chesterfield’s incredible run of draws in the league of late – it surely can’t continue and I fully expect it to end here.

The Spireites lost 2-0 to Grimsby in the FA Cup last weekend and, other than a 15-minute spell, they very rarely troubled the Mariners. It was a comfortable victory in the end and the team from Derbyshire looked devoid of ideas on how to change the game.

The team from the Proact are really struggling in front of goal; Chesterfield are the lowest scorers in the league and have found the net just seven times at home in 11 encounters.

Salford’s form appears to have dipped in recent weeks with W3-D2-L1 in their last six – one of those stalemates came away to in-form Solihull and the other draw and loss came at the hands of League One outfit Shrewsbury.

Ammies hitman Adam Rooney continues to be a massive threat in front of goal, netting six times in his last six appearances. The 6/5 at BetVictor for a Salford win looks a price that can’t be ignored.

Sutton v Solihull Moors | Saturday 8th December 2018, 15:00

Sutton seem to have hit a poor vein of form at the minutes, failing to triumph in six, although five ended all-square. In that run of fixtures, Saturday’s hosts have played lower-league opposition Slough twice, and rock-bottom Braintree. The U’s have also failed to find the net in half of those encounters.

Solihull continue to defy their pre-season doubters, sitting in fifth and are now unbeaten in 10 – that run takes in games against Harrogate, Salford and League One club Blackpool. Tim Flowers has got his team extremely well organised, conceding just twice in that 10-game sample.

Looking back further, the Moors have tasted defeat just once in 15 ties in all competitions, pretty impressive considering many pundits had them down as relegation contenders.

I fancy the Midlands club to win here but can’t rule out the draw, but I’ve found a way of getting it onside. By backing Solihull +0.25 on the Asian Handicap, a stalemate would see us collect a half-stakes win, whilst a Moors victory would return a full-stakes profit. This can be backed at 13/14 with BetVictor.
