PREMIER LEAGUE fanatic Tommy Buckley (@tbuckleythinks) shares his early goals thoughts on week three of the 2018/19 campaign.
The focus of my piece last week was goals and that’s where I’m aiming again this weekend with what I think is a fun, but also a solid looking Over 2.5 Goals treble for the Premier League.
Individually, the odds are short for each match. However, I’ll personally be backing the treble at odds of 3/1 with BetVictor.
Wolves v Manchester City | Saturday 25th August 2018, 12.30 | Sky Sports
In my opinion, the only way you’ll possibly find consistent, half-decent betting value on Manchester City this season will be via the handicap and goals markets as it will be next to impossible to just back Man City in the straight match odds.
The Citizens delivered on the handicap market for us last weekend and I think they can do that again here – Man City -1 and -2 have to be considered, but as stated, my focus is on Over 2.5 Goals and this just looks like a game ready to deliver goals.
City have already scored eight in two games and they are well capable of beating the Over 2.5 Goals target themselves. Throw into the mix a Wolves side that have plenty of quality and will look to attack, then goals look assured.
As a single, it’s around 1/2 for Over 2.5 Goals, but overall I think it’s a solid base to get the treble off to a winning start.
Bournemouth v Everton | Saturday 25th August 2018, 15:00
You can check out my full preview of this match in my other piece but to summarise it’s a fixture that has delivered a lorry load of goals in the last few seasons and looks likely to do so again.
The Cherries and the Toffees have scored 25 goals between them in their last six Premier League clashes and five of those 6 were indeed Over 2.5 Goals winners.
So far this season their respective matches combined have produced 12 goals at an average of 3.00 goals per-game with three of them actually going Over 2.5 Goals.
Given those stats and the likely open nature of the game then around 5/6 looks very good for Bournemouth v Everton to go Over 2.5 Goals and makes for a great looking second choice in the treble.
Arsenal v West Ham | Saturday 25th August 2018, 15:00
Arsenal have already conceded five goals in their opening two Premier League matches, while West Ham have let seven in, and I feel their respective defences and goalkeepers will be busy again here.
The last five Premier League clashes between Arsenal and West Ham have produced 20 goals, including scorelines of 4-1, 3-0, 1-5 and 3-3. Four of those five matches produced Over 2.5 Goals profit, with three even featuring Over 4.5 Goals.
Unai Emery clearly faces several issues at Arsenal in terms of getting the team to settle down and play how he wants and the same applies to Manuel Pellegrini; both look defensively fragile and that should see plenty of chances created.
Admittedly it’s the West Ham net that looks more likely to be suffering than the Arsenal goal but either way I expect plenty of goalmouth action and I feel Over 2.5 Goals has every chance of collecting.
Clearly the bookmakers agree quoting only around 1/2 but combined with the other two options it tops the treble up to around 3/1 (BetVictor) and that makes it worth the risk for a fun interest in those fascinating looking matches.
