3:20 Deuville| Jacques le Marois
The Jacques le Marois is one of the key races in the French calender and usually goes the way of one of Europe’s top milers. Plenty of group one winners line up with the exceptional Alpha Centauri the short price favourite, but is she vunerable?
Alpha Centauri has been the most impressive horse all season in my opinion. If the ground is dry she will win this and win it well, however it’s currently soft ground which makes her potentially vunerable. She’s only run two poor races in her career, both on softer surfaces, so it’s a massive worry here. Maybe she has improved since those defeats, maybe she doesn’t handle soft, I feel it makes her price too short until we know the answer to that.
With You is a very talented filly, and though she maybe lacks the star quality of the favourite she is a group 1 winner and handles the ground. She is uncomplicated and I feel she is improving all the time. This is a tougher race than the one she won last time out, however she strikes me as a solid each way selection and the most likely benefactor if Alpha Centauri doesn’t handle the conditions.
