FOOTBALL LEAGUE expert Ross Casey (@RossCasey24) shares his favourite fancies from Tuesday’s card.
Scunthorpe v Plymouth | Tuesday 1st May 2018, 19:45 | Sky Sports
Now this is an absolute diamond of a fixture in League One. Scunthorpe currently reside in the final play-off position, two points ahead of tonight’s opposition, Plymouth. Talk about high stakes!
A win would guarantee a place in the top six for Scunny, but that is far from a guarantee as they have the worst home record of any side in the top half of the League One table with just eight wins from 21 this season. The bookies are making them odds on favourites tonight, but I think all the pressure is on them here as Plymouth are outside the top six and have nothing to lose and are facing an Iron side that find home wins hard to come by.
The Pilgrims do find away goals hard to come by however – only 23rd placed MK Dons have scored less on the road than Plymouth, so I will back Plymouth here in the draw no bet market at a handsome looking 9/4 with Unibet.
Doncaster v AFC Wimbledon | Tuesday 1st May 2018, 19:45 |
I certainly am not expecting goals when Doncaster host AFC Wimbledon at the Keepmoat Stadium tonight. Donny have finished their season with a whimper, sadly. Rovers have actually won just four of their last 20 matches and have failed to net in four of their last six games.
AFC Wimbledon got themselves a very good point last weekend, drawing 1-1 away at league leaders Wigan. They are now unbeaten in their last five games and look all but safe in League One – only a disastrous week can see them go down now!
However, they are another side that goals seem hard to come by with six of their previous eight fixtures seeing less than three goals scored in them. For that reason, I am looking at under 2.5 goals tonight in this one with current best League One odds of 71/100 with Marathon.
These sides have only met once before – and less than three goals were scored – so that gives me even more confidence here.
Bradford v Walsall | Tuesday 1st May 2018, 19:45
Bradford have lost 12 of their last 19 matches which has been an absolute disaster to end their season. The Bantams now have absolutely nothing to play for other than to send their unhappy fans home happy in their final home fixture of the season.
Walsall on the other hand are absolutely fighting and clawing their way out of a relegation dogfight in League One. They are just about surviving after their last gasp win against Northampton last time out – which of course came on home soil. Only two sides have won less away games in League One this season, with a measly four victories from 22.
For that reason, I can’t see Walsall getting the win here, but with Bradford in free-fall, I will go for a draw tonight with a best price of 9/4 with 188 Bet.
