SUNDERLAND are in desperate need of points as they host Liverpool on Wednesday. Chris Graham (@chrisgraham79) takes a look at the betting.

It’s getting a bit desperate for Sunderland. I was convinced they’d go down this season when they gave Dick Advocaat another crack in the summer but the appointment of Sam Allardyce made me reconsider.
Allardyce got off to an excellent start with three wins from his opening six matches and with Crystal Palace and Stoke amongst their victims things were looking rosy.
Since November turned to December though it’s been all bad news for the Black Cats. A 3-1 defeat to Arsenal had positives but three subsequent defeats to Watford, Chelsea and Manchester City respectively offered little hope.
Overall it’s 12 Premier League defeats from 18 matches for Sunderland. It’s a grim fact for the North East club as the halfway point of the season arrives.
For Liverpool it’s been an erratic season. Just three wins from their opening 10 Premier League matches was a contributory factor in Brendan Rodgers being shown the exit door.
In came Jurgen Klopp and he’s overseen four wins from his 10 league matches in charge. A three game winless run came to an end on Boxing Day as Liverpool beat Leicester.
Similar to Man City, Liverpool’s results have been as outstanding as they’ve been odious. A 4-1 win at City sits alongside a 3-0 home loss to promoted Watford. A staggering contrast.
So when you have these kind of results in the Liverpool canon how can you feel confident about backing them at 8/11? It’s not a price that I could get involved with.
I’m going to bank on Sunderland scoring here. It’s getting rather serious for the club and they simply have to start producing. Liverpool have leaked in seven of their last 10 matches and in four of their last five away games.
Sunderland for all their woes have scored in seven of their last nine matches yet have been abysmal defensively. At 19/20 with Bet Bright I’ll be backing Both Teams To Score.
