CAN Hibs fight back from a 2-0 first leg play-off loss to Rangers? Chris Graham (@chrisgraham79) previews the Easter Road follow up.
Hibs v Rangers | Saturday 12:00 | BT Sport 2
What a huge win for Rangers on Wednesday night. After a poor start to the game they managed to find their feet and were much more clinical than Hibs. A 2-0 win has put them in a very strong position and BetVictor have them as short as 1/12 to qualify for the showdown with Motherwell next week.
That victory (along with the hard-fought two leg win over Queen Of The South) will have given the Glasgow club a much needed injection of confidence and I’m finding it hard to be turned on by 13/10 quotes for Hibs.
I was amazed that Under 2.5 Goals was odds against on Wednesday and I’m tempted to go in again, although the price isn’t as generous for Saturday’s game.
It looks bleak for Hibs. 2-0 down from Wednesday night, you can imagine that would have hugely hurt this young side, and they might be vulnerable on Saturday. Alan Stubbs’ team will have to gamble and that give Rangers opportunities with the increasingly-important Haris Vuckic ready to pounce.
It hasn’t been easy for Stuart McCall since he took over from the beleaguered Kenny McDowell but Rangers have definitely improved under his tutelage. His team have lost just once in his 14 games in charge.
Rangers won at Easter Road in March and I wouldn’t rule it out happening again on Saturday. Rather than backing them outright, I’ll side with them on the Draw No Bet market at 7/5 with BetVictor. This might prove all too much for Hibs against the Gers grizzled side.
